For Christmas Day in Banbury, most people start with the Cromwell Lodge Hotel on North Bar Street (£79.95 for three courses), the Easington on Bloxham Road (£74.95) or Miller & Carter at Stroud Park (£99.95). For a country pub, the Castle at Edgehill (£130) and the Red Lion in Adderbury (£88) both take bookings. Every entry was checked against the venue’s own site on 2 November 2026.

1. The Cromwell Lodge Hotel, North Bar Street

The Cromwell Lodge is the Greene King hotel and pub in the ironstone building at 9 to 11 North Bar Street, a short walk north of Banbury Cross. Its Christmas Day page offers three courses for £79.95, with hot smoked salmon and prawn cocktail or a Croxton Manor cheese soufflé to start, hand-carved roast turkey with duck fat roast potatoes, a pig in blanket and sausage stuffing as the main event, and a roasted squash and sweet potato tart as the vegan choice.

Children’s three courses are £32.95.

The Easington is the Ember Inns pub at 135 Bloxham Road, on the south side of town. Its Christmas page offers three courses on Christmas Day for £74.95 an adult and £37.50 a child, the lowest Christmas Day price in Banbury itself.

Miller & Carter is the steakhouse chain’s restaurant at Stroud Park on Ermont Way. Its Christmas Day menu is £99.95 a person, with a turkey paupiette (turkey breast rolled with pork stuffing), grilled Pacific sablefish and two 5oz fillets topped with scallops among the mains.

5. The Castle at Edgehill

The Castle is the Freespirit pub in the 18th-century castle folly on the Edgehill ridge, about seven miles north-west of Banbury. Its Christmas Day menu is £130 a head and £65 for under-10s, the highest price in this guide: a glass of English sparkling wine and canapés on arrival, then roast turkey, butter-poached halibut, Hooky-braised beef cheek or a squash and savoy cabbage dolma, a sparkling wine sorbet and puddings.

6. The Falcon, Warmington

The Falcon is the Brunning & Price pub on the Warwick Road at Warmington, just over the Warwickshire line north-west of Banbury. Its Christmas Day page sets the menu at £104.95 a person, with starters such as ox cheek and red wine suet pudding or king prawn and scallop Thermidor, and roast turkey with duck fat roasties and pigs in blankets among the mains.

10. The Turnpike, Yarnton

13. The Duck on the Pond, South Newington

The Duck on the Pond is a family-run pub in South Newington, near Bloxham, that calls itself “a farm to fork pub and restaurant”. Its festive menu runs from 2 to 24 December at £34 for two courses or £42 for three, with roast turkey, braised Newbottle beef, roast cod or a crusted butternut squash.

14. The Jolly Boatman, Thrupp
