Chris D J King is playing a free live DJ set at HMV in Castle Quay, Banbury, from 1pm on Sunday 4 October. Entry is free, and the date is the second day of the Banbury Canal Festival, so anyone in town for the festival can drop into the shopping centre as well.

He describes himself as an Oxfordshire-based professional DJ, compere and radio broadcaster, and says he has been entertaining audiences around Banbury and Oxfordshire for more than four decades. He presents The Chris King Show, and his line, printed on the flyer, is “You hum it and I’ll play it!”

He told us why he picked this Sunday:

“With the Banbury Canal Festival also taking place in the town centre on Sunday, it seemed a great opportunity to add a little more live entertainment for people visiting Banbury and Castle Quay.”

The flyer bills it as “a live DJ showcase during Banbury Canal Festival weekend”.

Making a day of it

The canal festival itself runs from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October and is free to enter, according to Banbury Town Council; our canal festival page has the programme, the partner venues and what happens if the weather turns.

If you are driving, Sunday parking in the council car parks is not free. Our parking page has the tariffs, and Castle Quay’s own car park is the cheaper Sunday option at £1.60 all day, which also puts you next door to HMV.
