Banbury Pride returns on Saturday 29 May 2027. Anyone can help shape it at a public meeting in Banbury Town Hall, Wednesday 30 September, 7pm to 8.30pm.

Banbury Pride will return on Saturday 29 May 2027, and its organisers want the town to help decide what it looks like. The first step is a public meeting at Banbury Town Hall on Wednesday 30 September, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

It will be the town’s third Pride. The organising committee announced the date in a press release sent to Banbury Online on 13 September, and says it is starting work earlier than ever after Banbury Pride 2026.

Who the meeting is for

The meeting is open to everyone. The committee says it particularly wants to hear from:

  • members of the LGBTQ+ community
  • allies
  • local residents
  • community and voluntary organisations and charities
  • businesses
  • anyone who wants to help make Banbury an inclusive and welcoming place

The plan goes beyond the day itself. Organisers say they want to build more LGBTQ+ community involvement and connections across Banbury and the surrounding area. Butcher’s Row will once again be at the heart of the event.

“Banbury Pride will be back in 2027”

Rebecca Bell, Co-Chair of Banbury Pride, said:

“We already know one thing for certain: Banbury Pride will be back in 2027.

“We want to open up the conversation and hear from the community. What would people like to see? What can we do better? Who else should be involved? And what would make people want to come into Banbury and be part of Pride?

“Pride will always have the LGBTQ+ community at its heart. But it is also an opportunity to bring people together and celebrate the differences that make our communities vibrant and welcoming places to live, work and visit.”

Nothing is decided yet, on purpose

We asked the committee about the practical side of 2027: costs and fundraising, sponsorship, where the event will spread to, and what happens between now and May. Their answer is that those questions belong to the meeting.

Sean, replying for Banbury Pride on 15 September, said: “Much of the detail you have asked for will be covered as discussion points at the open meeting on September 30th. We intentionally started planning early and left final decisions until after the wider consultation so we can be as inclusive as possible.”

So anyone who turns up on 30 September is walking into a plan that is still open, not being shown one that has already been made.
